GE14 | PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has claimed that his website has been “hacked” and all its contents removed.
In a statement today, he said he was informed of the matter by the blog’s hosted service provider.
“At 10am today, my blog Rafiziramli.com that contains hundreds of documents could not be reached. I was informed by members of the public who wanted to read the documents (but could not).
“I reported the issue to DataKL.com which is the company that hosts my blog.
“At 4:04pm today, I received a reply from DataKL.com saying my blog had been hacked and all information in the blog had been removed,” he said, adding this was the first time his blog had been hacked to this extent.
When Rafizi sent this statement to the press at 4:30pm, his blog only showed a blank white page when accessed.
However, when Malaysiakini checked again at 5:30pm, the website was accessible again.
Rafizi, who runs think tank Invoke Malaysia, also claimed that both his personal and the outfit’s phone lines had been hacked.
“People have been sending us messages and calling us to no end.
“I managed to speak to one of those who called me and found that my number was then hacked, and used to send out many messages that were critical of Pakatan Harapan,” he added.
'Logical to suspect BN'
Rafizi said it “logical” to suspect that the BN election machinery was behind the hacking.
“There is logic to suspect that the BN election machinery is responsible for hacking my blog and wiping out hundreds of official documents and financial statements about the country’s main scandals.
“Does the BN election machinery feel worried that if the video went viral, it would give a clear picture of how all these scandals came from these financial statements," he said in reference to a video published on his Facebook page.
The video in question is titled "Hebatkan Rasuah, Dato' Seri Najib" (Make corruption great, Najib) and features Rafizi summarising all 200 of his previous ceramah given in 40 parliamentary seats as part of Harapan's GE14 campaign.
In the 10-minute video clip, Rafizi states that his exposés on goverment-financial scandals, including 1MDB, Tabung Haji and Felda are based on audited financial reports he obtained.
He released the video as a response to caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak purportedly claiming that reports of wrongdoing in relation to these scandals are mere slander.
“I want to remind Najib that if Pakatan Harapan wins tomorrow, this hacking incident will be thoroughly investigated,” Rafizi said.
Tomorrow, May 9, is polling day. - Mkini
