JOHOR BARU: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has given his word that his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will step down from her post in the Cabinet once he become Malaysia’s eight prime minister.
He said that now was not the time for Dr Wan Azizah to give up her deputy prime minister’s post as it would be a loss for the party.
“Why should Wan Azizah step down now? Be patient, once I am appointed, Wan Azizah will step down and there is no need for people to make noise asking her to resign,” he added.
The 71-year-old also said that he already spoken to prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that if he wins the Port Dickson by election, he would give the latter space until it was his time.
Anwar said this in his speech during a meeting with Johor PKR members at Kompleks Warisan Sultan Abu Bakar here on Friday (Sept 14).- Star
