Former MPSJ chief Nor Hisham to take over as 12th KL mayor on Tuesday

KUALA LUMPUR: Barring any unforeseen changes, former Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) president Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, who retired last year, will take over as the 12th mayor of Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (Oct 2).
Sources told Star Metro that Nor Hisham was already receiving calls from developers seeking his help to push through their projects.
A WhatsApp message has been making its rounds, which appear to confirm rumours about his appointment.
Nor Hisham, who served with MPSJ from 2014 to 2017, is known for being tactfully opinionated about issues but rarely took a step back if he felt strongly about something.
He had served as assistant deputy director for development in the Federal Territories Ministry in 2006 as well as the Gombak district officer from 2012 to 2014.
Nor Hisham is known to be vocal about local government elections and has always maintained that appointment or election by merit is crucial.
He replaces mayor Tan Sri Amin Nordin Abd Aziz.
Amin Nordin, who was a former Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) director-general, took office as the 11th mayor of Kuala Lumpur on July 18, 2015, replacing Tan Sri Ahmad Phesal Talib.
The 63-year-old's two-year contract was due to expire on July 18, 2017, but he was given another two-year extension.
However, Amin Nordin tendered his resignation on Sept 1.-Star
