DAP opportunistic as well for working with Dr M – Nazri returns fire

There is nothing wrong with being opportunistic in politics, and this is something which DAP practices as well, according to former minister Nazri Abdul Aziz.
"Opportunism is acceptable, DAP is opportunistic too for working with someone they didn't work with before," he told Malaysiakini.
The Padang Renggas MP said this in reference to DAP cooperating with its longtime nemesis Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He was responding to Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, who said the former was being opportunistic in offering to campaign for PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim in Port Dickson.
Nazri said the DAP lawmaker's view that Anwar's support would erode should he accept the former minister's offer was just a "mere opinion".
He added that Ramkarpal had nothing to be concerned about as he was willing to work with DAP as well.
"We can work together, I did not exclude DAP, I have always been close to DAP," he added.
Nazri is known to share close ties with DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng back when he was tourism minister and the latter Penang chief minister.
The vocal politician, however, said he would "never" leave Umno.
He also did not foresee facing disciplinary action over his offer to campaign for Anwar, pointing out that Umno worked with PAS without debating the matter at its general assembly.
"If they want to take action against me, they should take action against the party first," he said.
Yesterday, Nazri told Malaysiakini that working with PKR would enable Umno to return to power soon.
On Wednesday, PKR's Danyal Balagopal Abdullah announced that he would vacate the Port Dickson seat to allow Anwar to contest in the by-election and return to Parliament. - Mkini
