Follow Najib's lead and quit, Annuar tells Liow

MCA president Liow Tiong Lai should do the honourable thing and relinquish his position like Najib Abdul Razak did, said Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa.
"I would like to advise MCA, in finding new strength, they should reinvent themselves.
"The only honourable way to do this is for him (Liow) to resign, like what Najib had done," he told a press conference at the Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said Liow should focus on strengthening MCA following its dismal performance in the last general election instead of meddling in Umno's internal affairs.
Annuar was responding to Liow's statement that MCA could kick Umno out of BN if it moves towards "theocratic" politics through cooperation with PAS.
Najib had announced his resignation as Umno president and BN chairperson three days after Pakatan Harapan's unexpected victory in GE14.
Liow, on the other hand, announced that he would not defend his post in the next party election.
Meanwhile, MCA former vice-president Gan Ping Sieu (photo) also mocked Liow over the latter's threat.
“Yes! That's the spirit. But tell me how (you plan to kick out Umno) though?” he asked in a Facebook posting.
Gan is expected to contest the MCA president position in the coming party elections.
Asked whether he believes there are MCA members who are open to Umno's cooperation with PAS, Annuar said he will not meddle in MCA's internal affairs and hopes the BN component would do the same.
Annuar, who stressed that Umno will maintain its ties with PAS and other opposition parties, also indicated that Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's keynote address at the upcoming party annual general assembly will give a clearer picture of Umno and BN'S future.
'Umno already a multi-racial party'
Annuar also refuted Liow's urging that BN continues to celebrate the nation's cultural diversity besides maintaining racial harmony.
Annuar said, that within Umno itself, the party's Malay members came from various ethnic backgrounds including Javanese, Acehnese, Mandailing and many others.
He said there were also a sizeable number of non-Malay and non-Muslim members the largest group being over 150,000 Kadazans and more than 130,000 Bisayas from Sabah.

"I would like to say this as evidence. that Umno is an inclusive party.
"It reflects how Umno is already multi-racial," he said, adding that this was a point often missed by the party's detractors.
Other ethnic groups represented in Umno included more than 10,000 of Siamese descent and some 4,000 Chinese Muslims, he added.

  1. Well Annuar Musang why you didnt do the honorable thing by quiting when you failed to wrestle Pas from Kelantan in past few GE as Umno head of Kelantan state. Anyway umno and MCA is irrelevant. Liow quit or you quit or both quit is irrelevant to the country well being.
