Hadi doesn't want Anwar to get a 'free win' in Port Dickson

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan may have announced that the party won't be contesting in the Port Dickson by-election, but party president Abdul Hadi Awang is not discounting the party's participation, stressing that PKR should not be allowed a "free win".
Hadi said in the event BN decides not to contest in the Port Dickson by-election against PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, then PAS may join the fray.
"We don't want to give a free win. If no one is contesting, then PAS can contest," he told a press conference after officiating the 64th PAS muktamar in Kuala Terengganu today.
This, Hadi said, would be in the interest of "celebrating democracy".
"Lose or win, at least it can be considered as a training (for the opposition) in future elections," said the Marang MP.
Takiyuddin in a statement on Thursday said PAS was sitting out the by-election and will instead back BN, regardless of whether the candidate comes from MIC or Umno.
However, MIC president SA Vigneswaran has said his party won't be contesting in the by-election.
Umno has also had internal debates whether the party should contest, with Padang Rengas MP Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz strongly opposing such a move.
Nazri said contesting in the Port Dickson by-election may sour Umno's relationship with PKR, who could be a future partner.
However Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says Nazri's view does not represent the party's.
The Port Dickson parliamentary seat fell vacant after its incumbent Danyal Balagopal Abdullah resigned on Sept 12 to pave way for Anwar's bid to return to Parliament. - Mkini
