Preachers who put down other religions not welcome in Malaysia:
PENDANG (Bernama): Muslim or non-Muslim preachers who put down and criticise other religions or beliefs in their religious talks are not welcome in this country, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator P. Waythamoorthy.
He said such an attitude would only cause uneasiness among the multi-racial and multi-religious people in the country.
“It is important to understand that all parties must respect each other,” he told reporters after attending a programme with the Siamese community at Wat Siam Kampung Lampam here Tuesday (Sept 25).
On today's programme, the minister, who is in charge of national unity and social wellbeing, said the Siamese community there had raised several issues pertaining to their welfare including their agricultural land, citizenship as well as higher education.
My comments : I agree fully with YB Waythamoorthy. By the way YB Waytha is indeed turning out to be the "coolest' Minister in the Cabinet. He has been meeting the Rungus people in Sabah, the Orang Asli in Kelantan (??) and now the Siamese community in Pendang. Most of these communities have never had a Federal Minister visiting them for quite long times, to listen to their grouses.
I also hope that what the people want and/or need is really delivered to them.
For example the Rungus community wanted a toilet, a community kitchen and a display area for their handicrafts. I hope the toilet and the community kitchen have been delivered already.
Cheers to YB Waythamoorthy.
