SIBU: DAP Sarawak says it is disappointed that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg allowed PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang to enter the state and deliver a hate speech on Malaysia Day.
Deputy chairman David Wong said on Friday (Sept 27) at a press conference that Abang Johari had "not only welcomed Hadi but had also hugged and kissed and presented memento to him."
"The Chief Minister had gone against the principle of banning racial and religious bigot from the state, which was especially made good by the previous Chief Minister, the late Tan Sri Adenan Satem," he added.
Wong in reading a news report by The Star dated Feb 22,2014, quoted Adenan as saying that Sarawak would stick to its stand of keeping out racial and religious extremists by using its immigration authority to prevent their entry or deport them.
"Adenan said whoever is a religious extremist or racist, they will kick them out of Sarawak. He had also said if they are already in the state, he will kick them out," said Wong in quoting Adenan.
According to Wong, Hadi in his speech in Bintulu on Malaysia Day this year alarmed the people by saying that DAP wanted the Chinese to control the state.
"This is a racial statement, and especially so when it was made on Malaysia Day where people of all races were suppose to come together to celebrate it.
"He (Hadi) was trying to create a hate speech to tell lies to the people. He wants other races in the state to hate the Chinese," he said.
Wong said DAP was not the racist party that Hadi portrayed it to be.
"DAP is a multiracial party for all races. We have members who are Malays, Chinese, Indian, Dayak and other races and are taking care of them. I am very disappointed by the action of Abang Jo in allowing Hadi into the state as he has contradicted what Adenan preached," he added.- Star
