PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said he is sympathetic towards PKR president Anwar Ibrahim who has had to repeatedly make statements about him being the future prime minister.
It is better for Anwar to keep quiet on the matter to avoid all sorts of interpretation, Mohd Amar (photo) said.
“If you asked me, it is better for him (Anwar) to keep quiet. If he is confident about becoming prime minister, then he should just wait.
“If you talk too much, people will interpret it all sorts of ways. So I feel bad for him too,” he said to reporters after attending a solat hajat ceremony and a motivational speech at the SM Agama Tarbiyah Mardhiah, Panchor in Kota Bharu last night.
He said this when asked to give his views on Anwar’s statement that he was confident he would be the next prime minister, replacing Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, next year.
Anwar, who is also the Port Dickson MP, had said in a Bloomberg interview that he would take over as prime minister around May 2020.
He reportedly also said that he did not want to reveal too much about the transition details.
However, Mohd Amar, who is also the Kelantan deputy menteri besar, declined to comment any further about this issue.
“I do not want to comment...
“If it is nearer to the elections, then it is okay for me to comment (but) we don’t even know when is it yet,” he said. -Mkini
