Floods keep 26 Sarawak schools closed as new term begins

The state education director says the school premises remain flooded, while access roads to residential areas and villages are impassable.

KUCHING:
 When the new school term begins tomorrow, 26 schools in Sarawak will remain closed due to the ongoing floods.

State education director Omar Mahli said three schools in the Mukah division, four in the Sibu division, and 19 in Bintulu division are affected.

Omar said the school premises remain flooded, while access roads to residential areas and villages are impassable.

Eight other schools are currently serving as evacuation centres, with seven located in Serian and one in Selangau. - FMT
