Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli has warned the government that it can no longer afford to close an eye to issues surrounding Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.
Pointing to a recent disposal of shares by Farhash, which saw the former aide to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim losing close to RM100 million in less than a year, Rafizi said the incident has raised serious questions among the people.
“Because the people will start asking questions. You said that if there is a rich politician or aristocrat, we (the government) want them to show the sources of their wealth.
“But then there is Farhash. How about him?
“The same rule that we apply to those we criticise should also apply to us,” Rafizi said in his latest podcast.
On Jan 5, it was reported that Farhash had resigned from MMAG Holdings Bhd and disposed of his entire shareholding in the integrated supply chain management company.

According to a report by the New Straits Times, Farhash ceased to be a substantial shareholder after disposing of 462 million shares via direct business transactions on Dec 31, 2025.
Mahathir, Daim, what about Farhash?
Rafizi said people started questioning how Farhash could afford to purchase the shares in the first place and later dispose of them at a huge loss of about RM97 million.
“This is a dangerous issue. Because it happened when Anwar was continuously speaking about ‘lawan sakau’ (fighting corruption), ‘lawan mahakaya’ (fighting the mega rich).
“(Authorities) had been going after the families of (former prime minister) Dr Mahathir Mohamad and former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, asking them to declare their assets.

“I have no problem with that, it’s good, everyone should be treated the same. But if you don’t do it to Farhash, the people would start asking why.
“Because in such a short time period, he lost (about) RM100 million. Eh, how come he has so much money? Where did he get the money?” Rafizi asked.
The Pandan MP said the Farhash issue can cause adverse political impact on the government, especially when it promised to carry out reforms.
“This is an unnecessary distraction and disruption.”
Malaysiakini has contacted Farhash and is awaiting a response. - Mkini
