TWO female foreign tourists were raped in separate incidents in Bali, and this comes weeks after a high-profile kidnapping of a foreigner that ended in his killing.
In one of the recent cases, a 22-year-old Chinese woman reported being assaulted and robbed near Labuansait Beach in South Kuta after accepting a ride from a motorcyclist. Police are still pursuing the suspect.
In another case, an Australian tourist was allegedly raped by a security guard at an entertainment venue in Seminyak after returning to retrieve belongings. Bali police arrested the suspect, identified as ABM, shortly after the report was filed.
Authorities confirmed investigations are ongoing, with one victim traumatised and the other case already leading to an arrest.
The question that many will surely be asking now is how safe Bali is nowadays.
The gruesome killing of Ukrainian tourist Igor Komarov on Feb 15, 2026, has shocked Bali after his severed head and body parts were discovered in an estuary near Ketewel, north of Sanur.
Komarov, 28, was earlier seen in a disturbing hostage video pleading for his family to repay US$10mil, claiming under duress that he had stolen from unnamed individuals.
Police later confirmed the remains belonged to Komarov after forensic testing in Jakarta.
Investigators believe six operatives from Eastern Europe were behind the kidnapping and murder, but all fled Bali
The case has drawn comparisons to the killing of Australian Zivan Radmanovic in June last year during a botched shakedown attempt.
Two Australian men who murdered a Melbourne father in Bali last year have been jailed for 16 years by an Indonesian court.
The killers told the court they killed Zivan Radmanovic, 32, after mistaking him for another man they had been sent to intimidate.
The killers, Tupou and Coskun offered apologies to Radmanovic’s family, including to his wife.
Authorities revealed that Bali saw two other hostage incidents in 2025 involving a South Asian man and a Russian, both released after paying cryptocurrency ransoms. — Focus Malaysia
