GPS secretary-general Alexander Nanta Linggi says Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg announced the plan yesterday, and highlighted tensions in major producing nations.

Nanta said that Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg announced the plan at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house yesterday. The proposal was also discussed with deputy premier Douglas Uggah Embas to ensure aid reaches those most in need.
In a Facebook post, Nanta said Abang Johari also highlighted global geopolitical tensions in major oil-producing regions such as Iran and Venezuela, and their impact on the global economy.
The premier had cautioned against heavy reliance on fossil fuels, saying it leaves economies more exposed to external shocks. “However, Sarawak is now on the right track with the transition to alternative energy sources such as solar, hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel,” he said.
Nanta said Abang Johari will chair a meeting aimed at accelerating the adoption of sustainable aviation fuel and coordinate its implementation. - FMT
