UMNO Communications director Datuk Lokman Noor Adam is at it again, attacking the Opposition for what he calls “recycling the same script with different actors”.
This time, the actor is Victor Chin, whom he said is being paraded as the moral champion.
“But strip away the noise, and the story looks all too familiar. What is the similarity between Albert Tei and Chin? Both allegedly gave bribes, and when they find themselves trapped in a ‘dumb deal’, they switch tactics.
“They come out with threats. They come out with ultimatums. Suddenly, they want to play victim,” he wrote in an opinion editorial in a pro-Pakatan Harapan portal.
He linked Chin’s ‘script’ to the lack of diligence from the opposition.
“And right on cue, the opposition and government-hating non-governmental organisations rush in. No hesitation, no due diligence. They immediately try to turn these questionable figures into heroes.”
He lamented that this is a pattern that keeps repeating, adding that this time, even former economy minister and PKR man Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli seems to be having a field day.
“The louder the controversy, the better it fits the political narrative. Truth becomes secondary when there are points to be scored.
“But the real question is simple. If someone is truly innocent, why not lodge a report with the relevant authorities? Why not let the law take its course?”
Instead, he said, these so-called “clean” individuals go to the press. They parade their “evidence” in public while painting the authorities as unreliable and compromised.
In November last year, Lokman also criticised the sudden rise of Albert Tei from obscurity. The ‘whistleblower’ met with former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
This drew sharp criticism, with Lokman dismissing the episode as political theatre.
Tei, known for releasing “revelation” videos on a perceived corruption scandal in Sabah, claimed he sought advice from Dr Mahathir, but his timing — followed by another scripted-looking video — raised Lokman’s eyebrows.
Lokman remarked that Dr Mahathir’s pattern of entertaining figures with “zero credibility” only signals fresh attempts to stir chaos ahead of the Sabah state election.
He added: “This is what you get when you become too greedy.” – Focus Malaysia
