SHAH ALAM: Police have detained five men believed to be involved in a fight at the Meru police station in Klang last Monday.
North Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said the incident occurred at about 9.40pm when three men went to the station to lodge a police report.
He said another five men suddenly arrived at the location before a dispute broke out between the two groups.
"In the incident, one man from the group of five allegedly hit the complainant using a metal rod.
"The commotion also caused a television set at the police station to be damaged before all the suspects fled," he said in a statement today.
He said following swift police action, five men aged between 28 and 41 were arrested to assist investigations.
"Preliminary investigations found the incident was believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding between both parties," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 148, Section 427 and Section 324 of the Penal Code, Section 90 of the Police Act 1967 and Section 6 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958.
