The charges include rape, committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature, and the production of child sexual abuse material in the form of videos involving the girl.

Judges Madihah Zainol and Nor Aziati Jaafar handed down their sentences after both courts accepted the 43-year-old man’s guilty plea and examined the facts of the case presented by the prosecution, Bernama reported.
The accused was handed 12 years’ imprisonment and 14 strokes of the rotan by Madihah, and 21 years’ imprisonment with 10 strokes of the rotan by Nor Aziati, with both sentences to take effect from his arrest on Feb 18, 2026.
The courts ordered the prison sentences for the 13 offences to run concurrently, bringing the total to 21 years’ imprisonment and 24 strokes of the rotan.
The accused was also ordered to undergo rehabilitation counselling throughout his imprisonment and to remain under police supervision for two years after serving his sentence.
He was charged with four counts of sexually assaulting the child under Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, punishable by up to 20 years in prison and whipping, upon conviction.
He was also charged with committing non-physical sexual assault by engaging in sexual acts in front of the girl. The offence, under Section 15(c) of the same Act, provides for up to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to RM20,000.
Two charges relate to the production of child sexual abuse material in the form of videos involving the victim. The charges, under Section 5 of the Act, are punishable by up to 30 years’ imprisonment and up to six strokes of the rotan.
The man was also charged with two counts of committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature with the girl. The charges were framed under Section 377C of the Penal Code and are punishable by up to 30 years’ imprisonment and whipping.
In addition, he was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code with raping the victim, which carries eight to 30 years in prison and a minimum 10 strokes of the rotan.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutors SS Manushri and Nur Farah Wahida Shahudin, while the accused was unrepresented.
During the court proceedings, the accused requested a reduced sentence citing his responsibility for six children and an unemployed wife suffering from cancer.
However, Nur Farah requested a deterrent sentence proportionate to the seriousness of the offences and the long-term impact on the victim’s life. - FMT
