ACID TEST FOR HISHAM – WILL HE BE AS CORRUPT OR EVEN MORE CORRUPT THAN NAJIB: PROBE NEW MILITARY CAMPS FOR VOTE RIGGING, URGES ARMY VETERAN

THE Election Commission must investigate Putrajaya’s move to build military camps in parliamentary seats in Johor, Pahang and Perak held by senior Umno leaders, a retired general said.
Brig Gen (rtd) Mohd Arshad Raji said he had information about the camps being Bera, Pahang, Paloh in Johor and Hutang Melintang in Perak.
The president of the National Association of Patriots (PPK) questioned why the camps were being built in the parliamentary seats held by Umno leaders, ahead of the 14th general election that must be held by August next year.
“Hutan Melintang is in Bagan Datoh. Bera is Ismail Sabri Yaacob’s seat. Paloh is under Hishammuddin Hussein’s constituency.
“The EC should do something about this,” the head of the non-governmental organisation for retired military and police personnel said at a press conference in Subang Jaya today.
Bagan Datoh in Perak is the seat of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Umno vice-president performing the duties of party deputy president.
Paloh is in the Sembrong federal seat which is held by Hishammuddin who is the Defence Minister and also an Umno vice-president.
Ismail Sabri is the Rural and Regional Development Minister.
Arshad said he had more information about these camps but did not want to disclose them to the press.
He also said the EC must probe the registration of voters at an incomplete army camp being built in Segamat, Johor.
“Why have voters been moved to the camp if it is not yet ready? I don’t think it can be ready by the end of the year. This is something not right and the EC should look into this.”
Arshad was referring to information revealed by opposition party DAP that 1,079 military staff and their spouses had been registered as voters in at military camps in Johor.
Of this number, DAP found Camp Segamat, which is still under construction, had registered 1,051 voters. Twenty-eight other voters were registered at the Regiment 501 Territorial Army Camp, also in Segamat.
The Segamat parliamentary seat in Johor is held by MIC president and Health Minister Dr S. Subramaniam.
Elections reform coalition Bersih 2.0 last week urged the police and Attorney-General to probe DAP’s findings, noting a constitutional provision that a voter could only be registered in a seat if he or she was already living there.
