YOURSAY | Probe is lacking evidence because you refuse to see the evidence right in front of you.
Kingfisher: Attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali may have valid reasons for his inability to be judgemental as to the appropriate or opportune occasion to propose or to discourage prosecution in respect to the 1MDB-related alleged corrupt practices.
One is however left wondering if the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is struggling with inadequate resources, both human and material, and lack of sophisticated investigative competence considering that incriminating information and evidence, if any, in this alleged scandal involving huge misappropriation and money-laundering scams may be embedded in a number of banking institutions and banking account transfers worldwide.
The public at large is however troubled by strong suspicions and consequent speculations as to what are possibly the actual reasons for an obvious lack of urgency on the part of our regulatory institutions to bring this, remember, home-grown scandal, if not a fiasco, to a final resolve so that the nation can stop hanging its head in an apparent feeling of disquiet and embarrassment.
Particularly, considering that a select few nation states whose banking institutions and local law and order norms had been adversely impacted by the improprieties resulting from the 1MDB operations, had speedily initiated regulatory and enforcement measures to identify the crimes and the perpetrators.
Slumdog: The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a civil case containing more than 300 pages of evidence linking all the key players, their web of money transfers and luxurious purchases from the “stolen” money.
Yet our PDRM, keystone cops that they are, cannot find evidence to the satisfaction of Apandi in order for him to bring criminal charges against those involved in the 1MDB scandal.
The PDRM is either incompetent or stupid, or Apandi is just being an obstructionist to protect Malaysian Official 1 (MO1), or all three.
Oscar Kilo: Apandi, the probe is lacking evidence because you refuse to see the evidence right in front of you. Just go to the DOJ website and you will find a ton of evidence.
Caripasal: Yes, contact DOJ for the evidence. Indeed, all the eight countries involved in the investigation of 1MDB will be happy to furnish the details within 48 hours.
The AG should notify Interpol to catch 1MDB-linked individuals, Jho Low and Riza Aziz. It is crystal clear that AG’s Chambers intentionally refuse to take the above measures in solving the scandal.
Apandi should quit his job as he 'fails' to gather enough evidence to prosecute MO1.
Kangkung: Apandi, look at US special counsel Robert Mueller.
His five-month-old investigation has brought charges against Paul Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates, both linked to US President Donald Trump. This is what an investigation is - without fear or favour.
Apandi, you are put there by MO1 to allegedly keep him safe from prosecution. Manafort and Gates "laundered money", so has MO1; and you are, like a good parrot, is repeatedly saying "probe into 1MDB is still found to be lacking in evidence."
Odin Tajué: Apandi, the police have not been able to find any evidence because the Arab donor does not exist.
You and DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi can identify the Arab. Once you have done that, the police will find the rest of the evidence.
Anonymous 2442261488878558: What's wrong with our AG? Other countries already closed down banks and charged persons associated with 1MDB money laundering, etc.
Here we have not sufficient evidence or some other lame excuses. It’s a case either the AG or police is incompetent, or both are turning a blind eye to the alleged crime committed by MO1 and his cohorts.
R Venugopal: It is very strange for AG to say insufficient evidence. Our police cannot be that ignorant of facts before a charge sheet is prepared.
It depends on what the AG is looking for in order not to pursue the case or finding excuses to delay the case. The whole world can see the crime committed but the AG is unable to accept this fact.
Truthseeker: First of all, we all know that he does not possess any integrity. Secondly, he does not want to end up like his predecessor Abdul Gani Patail.
Anonymous 133971438080786: Come on, you think we are so stupid to hear such comment as "not enough evidence".
You are appointed just to make sure that the MO1 is clear of any charges and this is so obvious even a young adult will know.
You don’t have any integrity left to lead. The whole world knows about how our money has been pocketed by a group of cronies of MO1 and here you are waiting for evidence to come to your doorstep.
We Malaysians are suffering from rising costs of living but for you, this is well taken care of. It looks like only God can punish those who steal and those who protect the thief.
EmEmKay: Apandi, just declassify the Auditor-General Report on 1MDB. The rakyat will help point out the evidence for you.
Rupert16: The 'sandiwara' continues... stooges like Apandi and the inspector-general of police (IGP) should be committed for trial for obstructing and delaying justice.
Redmann: Evidence and proof can be manufactured, tailored, doctored, engineered or otherwise fabricated.
If the top lawyer of the nation says what he reportedly said, then woe to him or her who tries to dredge up the ultimate truth.
The lie can do thirty-three circles around the globe before the truth can tie its shoelaces.- Mkini
