IPOH: A babysitter claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court here today to causing death by negligence of an infant under her care in April.
Nora Suella Abd Latiff, 36, allegedly caused the death of eight-month-old Muhammad Syahmi Naufal Muhammad Adam Tham between 11am on April 19, 2017 and 6.21pm the following day, at a house in Taman Meru here.
The charge under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code, carries a maximum sentence of 30 years’ jail and also a fine on conviction.
Magistrate Siti Hafiza Jaafar set RM3,500 as bail with one surety and fixed Dec 15 for re-mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Irna Julieza Maaras appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by counsel Sukhdave Singh. -FMT
