Electoral watchdog Bersih says the Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award (ADHRA) it received yesterday was a win for all Malaysians.
“This win belongs to the people of Malaysia, as we strive for reform towards a more democratic Malaysia.
"However, the struggle does not end here. We need the people to stand up and protect their right to vote," Bersih said in a statement today.
Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah added that they would not have won the award without the people's "support, confidence, and bravery."
The ADHRA was awarded to Bersih by the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy.
According to the foundation's website, the award comes with a US$100,000 grant to support the winning organisation's work.- Mkini
