The much anticipated Dental Bill 2017 was tabled for first reading in the Dewan Rakyat today.
The bill aims to establish the Malaysian Dental Council (MDC) and the Malaysian Dental Therapist Board (MDTB), which will regulate the dental profession.
The MDC and the MDTP will also give accreditation to dental professionals.
With their establishment, the bill proposed that the existing Malaysian Dental Council (MDC), established under the Dental Act 1971, be dissolved.
Deputy Health Minister Dr Hilmi Yahaya who tabled the bill said it would be tabled for second and third reading in the current sitting of parliament.
