Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan has urged for the group of China citizens suspected of attacking a police officer last weekend to be deported from the country immediately.
“We look seriously on the attack on a police officer by China citizens, and urge those involved to take harsh action against the aggressors by deporting them from this country.
“This should be done immediately. These actions by the China citizens have crossed the line and is damaging the dignity of our country,” Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan president Brig-Gen (R) Mohd Arshad Raji said in a statement today.
On Saturday night, a police officer was conducting a check at a premise in Pudu after receiving information that a group of workers were gambling.
He was then attacked by a group of 20 to 30 people, who were believed to be China citizens, and the officer subsequently released four warning shots in self-defence when the situation became out of control.
Mohd Arshad believes this incident could potentially cause tensions in the country, pointing out that there are not only workers from China here, but also from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and Nepal.
“If the government does not show a firm hand in handling this incident involving China citizens, the same thing could happen with the workers from other countries in Malaysia as well,” he said.
At the same time, Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan praised the police officer for being “brave” as he put his life on the line when he faced the group who attacked him.
“We would like to invite the public to look at the police in a positive light.
“The bravery of the police officer should be praised and remembered by the people. Many other police officers have also fought all sorts of crime for the safety of the country.
“Police officers, just like members of the military, have done a lot for the country,” he said.- Mkini
