Dr M says cops yet to take his statement over Bugis remarks

Dr Mahathir Mohamad says police have yet to contact him regarding his allegedly offensive remarks against the Bugis community.
"Nothing yet," Mahathir said briefly when met in Penang today.
The nonagenarian had last month called Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak a Bugis pirate, who should return to Sulawesi.
The jibe offended many in the Bugis community, including Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who said Mahathir should be probed for sedition.
The Malaysian Insight today reported that Selangor police have opened investigation papers into the former premier's remarks.
"I can confirm that we are investigating Dr Mahathir for his Bugis remarks. We will be recording his statement soon," Selangor criminal investigation department chief Fadzil Ahmat was quoted as saying.
Mahathir has insisted that his remarks were targeted solely at Najib, and that not all Bugis were pirates.-Mkini
