Guan Eng retains DAP sec-gen seat, Tan elected national chairperson

Lim Guan Eng has retained his post as DAP secretary-general in its re-election of the central executive committee (CEC).
The Penang chief ,inister came in third in the CEC polls earlier today, with 1,180 votes.
Tan Kok Wai was elected as the party's national chairperson, after serving as acting chairperson following his predecessor’s Karpal Singh’s death.
Gobind Singh Deo, who came in second in the CEC polls with 1,198 votes, was elected the deputy chairperson. He was formerly the legal bureau chief.
Most other major positions remained the same, with Anthony Loke retained as national organising secretary, Fong Kui Lun as national treasurer, Tony Pua as national publicity secretary, Liew Chin Tong as political education director, and Lim Kit Siang as parliamentary leader.
Teo Nie Ching, who was formerly the assistant national publicity secretary, took over Sivakumar’s old post as international secretary.
V Sivakumar was elected as the deputy secretary-general, along with former assistant national treasurer Nga Kor Ming and former vice-chairperson Teresa Kok.
Nga switched positions with former deputy secretary-general Ngeh Koo Ham, who is now the assistant national treasurer.
This CEC re-election was held by DAP after it was instructed to do so by the Registrar of Societies in July, due to supposed problems in the delegates’ list used for the 2013 re-election.
DAP had voluntarily held a re-election in 2013 after an Excel spreadsheet error affected the results of the initial election, which was held in 2012.
This re-election effectively reset the term for the DAP CEC.
