Jawi to investigate qazaf report against Husni

The Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Department (Jawi) will investigate a qazaf report against former finance minister II Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah.

This was after Pakatan Harapan lodged the report against the Tambun MP who had in Parliament accused PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim of sodomy.

Jawi enforcement division senior assistant director Mohamad Kori Jusoh confirmed receiving the complaint under Section 41 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act 1997 yesterday.

"Following this, the complaint will be investigated in accordance with the set procedures.

"This department will also summon the quarters involved to record their statements and complete the investigation paper," he said in a statement today.

Qazaf is the offence of falsely accusing someone of unlawful sexual relationship under Syariah law.

Husni, when debating the budget speech in Parliament last week, had allegedly accused Anwar of sodomising someone who was related to him.

PKR's Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul had challenged Husni to repeat the statement outside Parliament where he did not enjoy immunity.

Amanah's Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad subsequently lodged a qazaf complaint against Husni.- Mkini
