Liow sounds battle cry against 'Pakatan Jahat', brands Dr M a failed leader

MCA president Liow Tiong Lai today dismissed Dr Mahathir Mohamad's 22-year record as prime minister, describing him as a leader who had failed and is now leading the opposition coalition which he referred to as "Pakatan Jahat".
Liow, addressing delegates at the 64th MCA annual general assembly (AGM), also took aim at MCA's direct rival DAP, questioning why its parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang had endorsed Mahathir.
"Let us see Mahathir's report card when he was prime minister for 22 years. Normally, before the report card, one is given the benefit of the doubt.
"But in this case, Lim is adopting a failed report card. Lim is adopting a leader who had failed and whom he accused of mega scandals, cronyism, nepotism and draconian rule.
"Mahathir's legacy that burdened the people includes tolls, massive losses at Malaysia Airlines, Perwaja and in forex trading, lopsided concession agreements, privatisation to cronies and nepotism," Liow told delegates at the MCA headquarters.
Liow (photo) said Lim had highlighted these issues in the past but appear to have now forgotten and made a U-turn.

"This is the DAP, consistently inconsistent. Unlike DAP, MCA is consistently consistent. BN is consistently consistent.
"We may defer, we may disagree, but we always come to a consensus on what is best for the nation in a multi-racial spirit," he said.
Liow also referred to the word "Pakatan" (Pact) in Pakatan Harapan, claiming that it had negative connotations.
"When we create a pact, it is normally for ill intentions. The connotation is to form a pact to oust, destroy and slander people.
"But in politics, DAP and its henchmen need to offer and sell hope to the people. Therefore this evil pact was named Pakatan Harapan," he said as the delegates jeered at the opposition in agreement.
Liow said if Harapan was sincere, it should make public its shadow cabinet members.
"Will the shadow cabinet of this 'pakatan jahat' be led by Mahathir as prime minister or Lim?" he said.
Liow also declared to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who was present, that MCA was ready for the 14th general election.
"I can feel the energy, we are ready for the next general election.
"We will ensure BN will receive a new and bigger mandate," he said.
Liow said the AGM today, the last before the general election, was a clarion call to all.
He touted MCA's record, including its assistance to small medium enterprises as well as through its educational institutions.

Liow also raised several mega projects by the government, including the MRT, Digital Free Trade Zone, East Coast Rail Link, Kuala-Lumpur Singapore High Speed Rail, Pan-Borneo Highway, Melaka Gateway, Malaysian Vission Valley, Iskandar Corridor and several others.
He also highlighted Putrajaya's agreement to build 10 new Chinese schools as well as to relocate another six.
"The BN government will ensure the construction and development of these schools will be completed in the near future.
"Furthermore, the BN government also assures that the construction of schools will not be on an ad hoc basis.
"They will be continuously built based on the local needs and population density as well as the government's education development plan," he said.- Mkini
