MP recalls Najib's 'scripted' eight minutes in Parliament

PKR's Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen today recalled Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's mere eight-minute appearance in Parliament, 13 days after he tabled Budget 2018.
"He took a question at 10.04am and left the hall at 10.12am," said Wong.
Najib was in Parliament today for Question Time.
However, Wong complained that the entire eight minutes were "scripted", with Najib being lobbed a couple of soft questions.
"(It was on) why he is so awesome in the matter of 'digital economy’. A question planted by an Umno MP.
"After reading a reply text for four minutes, the Umno MP's follow up question (which is usually spontaneous) starts with 'Congratulations for the successful programme, we are a world leader in the digital economy...'
“This kind of suck up is pretty standard," he said.

According to Wong (photo), Najib then replied to the follow-up statement with another prepared speech, which lasted two minutes.
"Under Najib's administration, he has magically turned the Parliament question and answer session into a scripted play,” he said.
Najib had also answered another follow-up question from PAS' Rantau Panjang MP Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff who had asked about the problems faced in the digital economy.
By convention, only two follow-up questions are normally allowed for each topic during Question Time.
Najib then left the Dewan Rakyat and could not be “bothered" to listen and support his other ministers answering other questions, Wong claimed.
He added that as soon as Najib stood up and left, Tanjung Karang MP Noh Omar and Pontian MP Ahmad Maslan were seen rushing to open the door for him.
"This morning illustrates how parliamentary democracy slowly dies in Malaysia," he said.
Wong also noted that 18 ministers and deputy ministers turned up in a show of force, but that that was still 30 percent short of Najib’s entire cabinet.- Mkini
