KUALA LUMPUR: A senior executive with Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) died while on board a flight from here to London yesterday.
Manisa Mohamed Nor, 39, a manager with the MyCEB marketing and communication division was on her way to attend the 56th International Congress and Convention Association Congress in Prague, Czech Republic when she died.
Her death on board the British Airways aircraft prompted an emergency landing at the Esonboga Airport in Ankara, Turkey.
MyCEB chief executive officer Datuk Zulkefli Sharif said Manisa, was travelling alone for the convention.
“Her trip to Prague was sponsored by the organising committee of the 2016 ICCA which was held in Kuching, Sarawak,” he said.
“Manisa was the Marketing Research manager for the last six years. Among others she was responsible in running the Future Leaders programme with local universities.
“This includes creating an awareness in job opportunities in various sectors including tourism,” he said in a statement.
Arrangements are being made to bring Manisa back to Malaysia. She is expected to arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport tomorrow at 5.20pm and funeral will be at the Ampang cemetery in the evening.
