Several division leaders of Bersatu in Johor today lodged a report with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) over the failure of the party to hold annual general meetings at the branch, division and central levels.
Kluang Bersatu division information chief Arjuna Putra Ali said according to the Societies Act 1967 and the Societies Regulations 1984, the party was supposed to hold an AGM latest by Sept 9, within a year after the party was established.
"So far the Bersatu leadership held a gathering in Muar but it was just a birthday celebration and not an AGM as required," he told reporters after lodging the report in Putrajaya today.
Arjuna Putra said the documents submitted to the ROS included 358 written complaints received from seven divisions namely Bakri, Kluang, Sembrong, Ayer Hitam, Simpang Renggam, Ledang and Batu Pahat.
According to him, the issue had been tabled to the leaders on several occasions but no action had been taken so far.
Arjuna Putra said the failure to hold an AGM had resulted in the grassroots members not having a platform to voice their opinions and being oblivious of the party's financial status.
"Twelve months after its establishment, Bersatu has still not declared its financial statements that have been certified, record of the donors and amount of funds donated by other Pakatan Harapan component parties, especially the DAP.
"Based on official complaints, a substantial amount of money was said to have been sponsored by the DAP in implementing various Bersatu programmes at the branch, division, state and central levels," he said.
Arjuna Putra added that he had also lodged a complaint on the registration of Bersatu membership without the consent of the nominees which is an offence under Section 471 of the Penal Code and Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
