Pay your traffic summonses or face court action

aziz-aes

KUALA LUMPUR: Motorists with unpaid summonses under the Automated Awareness Safety (Awas) System will face court action beginning early 2018, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Deputy Transport Minister Ab Aziz Kaprawi said action would be taken against those with outstanding summonses issued after May 1, this year.
“The ministry has decided to start prosecuting Awas cases from 2018. The Road Transport Department is therefore, preparing to summon all (errant) traffic offenders under the demerit system to court.
“Currently, the compound is RM150 but once the case is brought to court, the minimum fine will increase to RM300,” he said when replying to a question from Mahfuz Omar (PAS-Pokok Sena) on the matter.
However, Ab Aziz said the government was still suspending its action against those issued with Automated Enforcement System summonses from 2012 to April this year. -FMT
