PKR urges MACC to probe Apandi over RPK’s allegations

Two PKR leaders have urged the MACC to probe a series of allegations by blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin concerning the appointment of Mohamed Apandi Ali as attorney-general.
The requests were made by PKR vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin and PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin today.
Shamsul said that the allegations, contained in Raja Petra's articles titled "Strong rumours surrounding the AG 1 & 2", which appeared on the Malaysia Today blog last month, were "shocking".
"We ask that MACC investigate the AG, especially the incident of the removal of (former AG) Abdul Gani Patail," he said after his statement was recorded by the MACC.
Shamsul added that the MACC had promised to let him know within a week if there was a case to pursue.
Apandi has threatened to sue Raja Petra "till kingdom come" and had lodged a police report accusing the blogger of committing criminal defamation.

Apandi: It's fake news
Apandi denied the allegations made by Raja Petra, calling it "fake news".
"It is all rubbish and highly defamatory. I intend to sue the writer till kingdom come.
"I am seriously going to sue and I am consulting my lawyer friends in the United Kingdom. This is nothing but fake news done with evil intention," the AG was previously quoted as saying in The Star.
He also denied getting his job as the country's top prosecutor through inappropriate means.
Before becoming attorney-general, Apandi had served as a Federal Court judge and prior to that, a deputy public prosecutor.
He was also formerly a treasurer for Kelantan Umno.- Mkini
