Police to add 6,000 new recruits next year

The Royal Malaysian Police are expected to recruit about 6,000 new officers and personnel in stages, starting January 2018.
Bukit Aman Deputy Director of Management (Training) DCP T Narenasagaran said the intake of new recruits was to fill existing vacancies and to replace those who had retired or resigned.
He said the new intake involved posts such as inspectors, lower ranks, auxiliary constables as well as Orang Asli constables and police cadets.
"With the new intake, it will strengthen the capacity of the police force to fulfill the needs of the people,” he told reporters after officiating the passing out parade of the 1/2017 series General Operations Force (GOF) basic training course involving 658 officers and personnel at the Ulu Kinta GOF Northern Brigade here today.
Narenasagaran noted that among the 13 police training centres nationwide were in Kuching, Sarawak; Segamat, Johor; Langkawi, Kedah; Sabah and Kuala Lumpur.
In his speech, he said GOF’s role now made an impact and was relevant in building the trust of the people and the government towards the police force by playing a role in providing crime prevention assistance and assignments at several Immigration, Customs and Quarantine Complexes.
