Selangor gov't announces three months bonus, but...

The Selangor government has announced a three-month bonus for its civil servants in the state's Budget 2018 where one month will be paid next month.
However, the other two months' bonuses, have been paid four months ago during the Hari Raya celebration.
In revealing his 2018 Budget, Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin said the special financial aid totalling RM94.65 million was meant for the civil servants, whom he described as "paragons of excellence".
"Two months (of bonus) were paid in June during the Hari Raya celebration, To complete the special financial aids, one month wage (bonus) will be paid on Dec 21 to help them to prepare for the new school semester (next year)," he added.
According to him, this is an encouragement for the civil servants to continue their excellent service.

"I am glad that we have a strong and professional civil service team... No rakyats' problems are left unresolved, no files left without being checked and no emails as well as letters left unanswered," Azmin added.
"Such excellent service has lifted Selangor as the most advanced state in the country, a state envied by various parties," he stressed.
Beside state civil servants, 6,725 kafa teachers, 371 traditional village heads, 78 new village and fishing village heads and 48 Indian community heads are also entitled to the bonus.
Last week, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced a RM1,500 bonus for civil servants, which will be paid in two stages - RM1,000 in January, and RM500 before the Aidilfitri celebration in May.
Yesterday, Azmin's counterpart in Penang Lim Guan Eng also announced a RM2,000 bonus for the state's civil servants.
This is the last budget before the general election which is due by June 2018, and all eyes are on how both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan will court the electorate, including the 1.6 million civil servants with various goodies.
When met by reporters later, BN lawmakers questioned Azmin's announcement on the three-month bonuses.

"Never in history has the 2018 budget been used for the current year where two months (are) paid in June and another month (is) paid in December," said BN Batang Kali state assemblyperson Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan (photo).
"What about next year, which budget year will be used to pay (next year's budget)? " he asked.
"They failed to consider the 50,000 civil servants attached to the federal government but stationed in Selangor to support the development of the state," he said.
"They failed to consider the police, the staffs in hospital and clinic, the teachers and other government departments," he added.
Meanwhile, BN Kuang state assemblyperson Shukor Idrus said Azmin only wanted to seek popularity.
"Only one month bonus, two months had been paid. The next one should be meant for next year, but he mentioned three months for popularity," he added.- Mkini
