Selangor MB: Putrajaya extended deadline for Splash deal

The deadline for Selangor to take over Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash) has been extended to July next year, Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said today.
Azmin told the Selangor legislative assembly that the decision was made by the federal government, which has yet to provide a valuation assessment for the company.
"Negotiations on the acquisition of Splash are yet to be finalised. The state government is yet to receive the valuation assessment report for the company.
"The (energy, green technology and water) ministry was of the view that there has to be an extension.

"In view of this, the federal government has corresponded with the state government and proposed that the acquisition process be delayed for nine months," said Azmin, stressing that the matter was decided by Putrajaya.
Azmin said this in response to a question from Sulaiman Razak (BN-Permatang).
Putrajaya has been federalising water assets since 2007 following the passing of the Water Services Industry Act 2006 (WSIA).
Selangor is one of two states that have private companies involved in the water supply industry.
Since 2008, the Selangor government has attempted to acquire Splash and three other related companies for restructuring purposes before handing them over to Putrajaya.
The Splash deal is the only one still pending.- Mkini
