SHAH ALAM: Police are in the midst of tracking down two men in connection with a machete attack on a mother of three in Taman Klang Jaya near here today.
One of the fugitives is believed to be a “friend” of housewife R Komathi, 42, who sustained slash wounds on the head and body.
Klang (South) police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli said the alleged assailants sent the victim to a hospital outside the Klang Valley where she was warded in a stable condition.
According to initial police investigations, the attack might have been linked to a “crime of passion” and the case had been classified as attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
The incident, which was recorded in a two-minute, 14-second video, had been making the rounds on social media and was watched over 7,000 times.
Commenting further, Shamsul said Komathi’s 13-year-old daughter lodged a police report over the attack about 9am today, after being informed by an aunt.
“Based on the report, the two men went to the victim’s workplace in Taman Klang Jaya in a blue Proton Satria.
“One of them slashed her several times with a long machete and forced her into the vehicle.
“As a result, the victim sustained injuries on the head, legs, left wrist and back… The men left (the scene in the car) with the woman,” he said when contacted here today.
Meanwhile, police are seeking the assistance of N Somoo, 37, and another man, identified only as Mogan, to facilitate investigations into the attempted murder. -FMT
