Chinese companies invest RM22 bil in 180 manufacturing projects

They provide 38,000 skilled jobs.

The Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park involves companies from China investing on a large scale in the manufacturing and service sectors in Malaysia.
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 180 investment projects from China worth RM22 billion have been approved in the country’s manufacturing sector from 2010 to 2017.
Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Chua Tee Yong said all the projects were expected to generate 38,643 employment opportunities in metal fabrication, non-metal minerals, as well as electrical and electronic products.
“This cooperation is part of the commitment of the government to attract quality investors to provide a positive impact on the country in offering high-value employment to local residents,” he said when replying to a question by Fauzi Abdul Rahman (PKR-Indera Mahkota), who wanted to know the total investment from China approved and the agreement between Malaysia and China under the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP).
Regarding projects approved under MCKIP, Chua said they involved companies from China investing on a large scale in the manufacturing and service sectors in Malaysia.
“Among them are Alliance Steel (M) Sdn Bhd in base metal industry, Yee Chiu Non-Ferrous Metal (M) Sdn Bhd, Longi Solar (Kch) Sdn Bhd (solar industry), Jinko Solar Technology Sdn Bhd (solar industry), Ji Kang Dimensi (M) Sdn Bhd (base metal), Xinyi Solar (M) Sdn Bhd (solar industry), Xiamen University (education) and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (information technology and communications),” he said. -FMT
