BN strategic communications deputy director Eric See-To has urged Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to verify a viral photo purportedly depicting him standing with a businessperson who was arrested by MACC over the Penang undersea tunnel project.
“If the photo is real, Lim has an obligation to confirm if he knows the (businessperson), why did he go to the (businessperson’s) house, when was this picture taken and what is his relationship with the (businessperson),” See-To asked in a Facebook posting today.
In an immediate response, Lim has declined to comment on this matter for now.
See-To said the businessperson depicted in the photo was supposedly arrested by MACC over allegations that he received RM19 million to help stave off investigations into the Penang tunnel project.
The photo, which had gone viral on social media, was attached with a caption that claimed it was taken at the businessperson’s house around the time he allegedly received the RM19 million, See-To added.
“If you (Lim) believe this photo is doctored or edited then say so and lodge a police report that someone is trying to defame you,” he said.
So far, two men have been detained by MACC over the suspicion that they received money to stop the investigation into the Penang mega-project. -Mkini
