Aeon mall opens later than usual after 'royal' shopping spree

Aeon Mall Tebrau City in Johor had to open later than usual today. This morning, a notice was posted on its shutter informing customers that it would remain closed until further notice.
Last night, Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim treated customers at the mall to a RM3,000 per head shopping spree.
However, it is uncertain if the mall's closure this morning was related to what transpired last night.
Contacted by Malaysiakini this afternoon, a spokesperson said the mall opened for business at noon.
However, the spokesperson did not respond when asked if the delay was a result of last night's shopping spree.
According to Utusan Malaysia, social media was awash with photographs of unpaid items left in trollies.
Among those who tweeted a photograph of the alleged aftermath was lawyer Nurainie Haziqah.
“This is what happened after ramai yang tak sempat bayar di kaunter di AEON Tebrau semalam (This is what happened after many were unable to pay at Aeon Tebrau cashiers last night). MashaAllah. It’s really sad.
“I’m genuinely sad because there's (sic) really so many families, not just in Johor, indeed in need of help because they are really poor.
“Kalau kita nak membantu mereka yang susah, kita bantulah dengan sebaik mungkin (if we want to help those in need, we should help as best we can),” she said.
Tunku Ismail had reportedly spent close to RM1 million during the two-hour shopping session.
The Facebook page of Johor Southern Tigers later carried a statement in which the crown prince proclaimed his love for the people of Johor.
Tunku Ismail further denied he was seeking votes. - Mkini
