GE14 | BN is expected to announce its list of candidates for the 14th general election seven or 10 days before nomination day on April 28, according to secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
However, he said BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak had yet to set the announcement date.
“I expect it to be a week or 10 days before the nomination day,” he told reporters after presenting the Putrajaya Education Quality Award in Putrajaya today.
The Election Commission has set the polling for the GE14 on May 9, nomination on April 28, and early voting for May 5.
When asked on a report about Umno Youth members who allegedly removed BN flags in Wangsa Maju in protest of the possibility that the seat might be given to MCA, Tengku Adnan said the individuals had been identified and would face disciplinary action.
“In Umno, we have our code of ethics and regulations. We have not even finalised our list of candidates, why get all fired up?
“I’m totally unhappy about this. As the Federal Territories Umno liaison committee chairperson, I’m saddened and disappointed. What happened to the principles of wasatiyyah, wala and tabayyun?” he chided.
On April 13, media reported that Wangsa Maju Umno Youth members had frozen all their activities and campaign, as they were unhappy with the possibility that the seat may be given to MCA.
