PUTRAJAYA— Barisan Nasional (BN) is expected to announce its list of candidates for the 14th General Election (GE14) seven or 10 days before the nomination day on April 28, according to its secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor.
However, he said BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak had yet to set the announcement date.
“I expect it to be a week or 10 days before the nomination day,” he told reporters after presenting Putrajaya Education Quality Award here today.
The Election Commission (EC) set the polling for the GE14 on May 9, nomination on April 28, and early voting for May 5.
When asked on the report about Umno Youth members who allegedly removed the BN flags in Wangsa Maju in protest of the possibility that the Wangsa Maju seat might be given to MCA, Tengku Adnan said the individuals had been identified and would face disciplinary action.
“In Umno, we have our code of ethics and regulations. We have not even finalised our list of candidates, why get all fired up?
“I’m totally unhappy about this. As the Federal Territories Umno Liaison Committee chairman, I’m saddened and dissappointed. What happened to the principles of wasatiyyah, wala and tabayyun?” he chided.
On April 13, media reported that Wangsa Maju Umno Youth members had frozen all their activities and campaign as they were unhappy with the possibility that the seat may be given to MCA.
