GEORGE TOWN: A woman who jumped off the second Penang Bridge here this morning was rescued by several fishermen whose boat happened to be passing by.
In the incident which took place at 11.13am, the woman parked her Toyota Avanza on KM9.9 of the island-bound stretch. She was seen standing on the ledge before leaping into the sea.
The fishermen who saw her in the water moments later immediately jumped from their boat to save her.
The rescue, which was recorded on one of the fishermen’s phones, quickly went viral.
The woman was brought to a nearby jetty where she received immediate attention from a fire and rescue paramedic team.
According to a Penang Fire Department official, she is in stable condition and will be brought to hospital for further checks. -FMT
