GE14 | The Teluk Intan MP Mah Siew Keong today refuted news that he would distribute money to the voters at the parliamentary constituency service centre that went viral on Facebook.
Mah, who is also Gerakan president, said the news was baseless and false and it was done by certain quarters aimed at creating confusion among the voters in the constituency.
“The spread of the fake news by certain parties on Facebook has caused members of the public to turn up at the service centre since yesterday as I was supposedly to give out money to the voters.
“This is a very dirty and malicious act and try to incite anger among members of the public against me,” he said.
Mah said this to reporters after officiating the ground breaking ceremony of the Sungai Ayer Kuning Bridge project at Jalan Changkat Jong in Teluk Intan today.
Mah said the dissemination of fake news was the tactic used by certain parties to sabotage and undermine his performances as the incumbent, especially ahead of the 14th general election.
He said the irresponsible action could affect public order and he asked that the voters not to be deceived by the spread of the false news.
“I am worried that more dirty tactics are carried out by unscrupulous parties to tarnish my image and performance as an MP,” he said.
