‘IT’S A FATAL MISTAKE’ – DAP MAVERICK BOO CHENG HAU WARNS GUAN ENG AFTER REFUSING TO CONTEST IN LABIS

KUALA LUMPUR – Dr Boo Cheng Hau said today the change in Johor DAP’s lineup, including replacing him with his protege to contest in Skudai was a “fatal mistake”.
Using the analogy of managing a football team, he said, moving candidates, especially in the last minute, was detrimental.
“I used to manage a football team although I’m not a footballer, and I know full well that changing player’s positions at the last minute would mean a slim chance of victory,” he was quoted as saying in a Malaysiakini news report.
“I had this experience in secondary school when my class football team’s goalkeeper caught chicken pox on the day of a competition, and we had to call up a reserve player to be the goalkeeper,” he added.
Last night, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng announced five Johor seats during a ceramah in Batu Pahat in which the party will be contesting in GE14.
In his speech, Lim said Dr Boo will be replaced by former Mengkibol assemblyman Tan Hong Ping to contest in the Skudai state seat.
Dr Boo, who expressed disappointment, however, said that he was not entirely bitter about the move and added that he will remain loyal to his party and Pakatan Harapan.
According to The Star Online, the second term assemblyman reportedly regarded himself as a “die-hard DAP man”.
Dr Boo, who shared a four-part video recording of the press conference on his Facebook page earlier today, said his party would experience difficulties in terms of winning if he had accepted the party’s decision to contest at the Labis parliamentary seat
Besides announcing the Skudai state seat, Lim announced incumbent Gan Peck Cheng for the Penggaram state seat, Tan Chen Choon for Jementah, Chew Peck Choo for Yong Peng and incumbent Teo Nie Ching to be retained at the Kulai parliamentary seat.
DAP is expected to contest six parliamentary and 14 state seats.
MEANWHILE, according to The Sun Daily:

DAP’s Boo dropped after rejecting Labis seat

JOHOR BARU: Skudai state assemblyman Dr Boo Cheng Hau is disappointed that Tan Hong Ping would contest for the seat in the 14th General Election (GE14) instead of him.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng announced in Batu Pahat on Saturday night that Boo, 54, would make way for Tan, the incumbent Mengkibol assemblyman.
Boo has rejected the offer by the party to contest in Labis parliamentary seat. “There are several grass root leaders have rejected the offer, and they are allowed to stay, why can’t I?” he said.
However, Boo said he would stay in the party and help the DAP and Pakatan Harapan (PH) win the election.
He said several PH leaders had phoned him and said that he should defend his Skudai seat.
