However, he says he will abide by whatever decision Prime Minister Najib Razak takes.
REMBAU: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin intends to continue to represent the Rembau constituents for the next five years.
The Rembau MP for the past two terms consecutively said there was still much development that he wished to bring to the constituency.
“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has asked me to look up at other constituencies but I asked him to retain me here.
“I am a party man, so whatever he decides, I will accept,” he told the media after attending a programme to hand over house keys to fire victims whose homes had been repaired at the Pedas public housing scheme near here today.
Also present was state Human Capital, Youth and Sports Committee chairman and Rembau Umno division information chief Zaifulbahri Idris.
Khairy was confident that he would continue to win in the constituency if he was selected to represent the Barisan Nasional.
“I am confident that I can defend the constituency based on the support received since the 2008 general election which increased in 2013.
“There might be pressures in terms of current issues and so on but here, we practise the approach that Rembau is for Rembau,” he said.
He said the government had allocated RM200,000 to repair six houses that were affected by the fire that broke out in August last year.
In the incident that occurred at about 6.15pm on Aug 4 last year, four houses were razed while the fire burnt the front portion of two other houses. -FMT
