GE14 | Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong has asked his predecessor Boo Cheng Hau to reconsider his refusal to contest in the parliamentary seat of Labis.
This was after Boo earlier today complained that Johor DAP had made a “fatal mistake” by insisting on moving him from his state seat of Skudai.
"The decision had to be made. He was fully consulted and was offered a seat in Labis. This is the party's strategy.
"We hope everyone can play their part in making this (strategy) happen. The Labis offer is still open to him," Liew told journalists in Kluang today.
Asked if Johor DAP would give Boo a deadline, Liew said he did not want to issue ultimatums.
"I think we always want him to be part of the contributing factor," he said, adding that the people also supported DAP's strategy.
Johor DAP appeared to leave Boo with no choice after it announced yesterday that his protégé and Mengkibolassemblyperson Tan Hong Pin would take over his Skudai seat for the 14th general election.
Liew, who is the incumbent Kluang MP, had also chosen to move to another parliamentary seat as part of an attack on MCA constituencies in Johor.
He will take on MCA deputy president and three-term incumbent Wee Ka Siong in Ayer Hitam.
Wee had won the Ayer Hitam seat with a 7,310-vote majority in the last general election.
MCA's Chua Tee Yong, meanwhile, only won the Labis seat with a narrow 353-vote majority. - Mkini
