The MACC has condemned the placing of a live bullet in the postbox of the home of one of its senior officers and has lodged a police report on the matter.
The commission said it believed that the threat was in connection with “certain high-profile cases” that the commission was presently probing.
“MACC views seriously the act where an individual threatened a senior MACC officer by placing a live bullet and a note resembling a threat in the post box of the officer’s house yesterday.
“A police report has been made in connection with this incident and the MACC urges the police to investigate this case and identify the individual responsible for the act so that appropriate action can be taken in accordance with the law.
“MACC believes that this act is in connection with certain high-profile cases that the commission has been investigating recently.
“MACC would like to stress that the commission will not bow to such threats and will continue to carry out its duties without fear,” said the commission’s deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki in a statement today.
Among the high-profile cases presently under scrutiny by the commission include the Ijok land sale case in Selangor, the Penang state government’s undersea tunnel project and the frozen funds belonging to Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd found in his Australian bank account. - Mkini
