Mat Sabu barred from entering Sarawak, again

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu has been barred from entering Sarawak again.
“He arrived at the Kuching Airport at 9.30 this morning to attend a party meeting and was barred while going through immigration check,” said Mohamad’s political secretary Mohd Azhar Mat Dali in a statement today.
Azhar said Mohamad, who is popularly known as Mat Sabu, was allowed to enter Sarawak just last week to attend a program in Bintulu.
He had been barred from entering Sarawak before, in March 2016, during the state elections.
At that time, he said no reasons were given for the ban.
The Sarawak government has banned a slew of people from entering the state before.
A non-comprehensive list of those who were banned includes PKR vice-presidents Nurul Izzah and Tian Chua, PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin, DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, controversial preacher Ridhuan Tee Abdullah, red-shirts leader and Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos, as well as civil rights activist and lawyer Ambiga Sreenevasan.
The Sarawak government has autonomy over immigration control but cannot ban people from the state if they are there for political activities.  Mkini
