GE14 | Penang PAS will field a candidate against DAP in only one seat, in Sungai Pinang - unlike in Johor.
State PAS commissioner Fauzi Yusof said this in announcing the party's 18 candidates state seat candidates and six parliamentary seat candidates, at PAS headquarters in Kepala Batas tonight.
According to Fauzi, most of the candidates are young, professionals, businesspersons and even an activist.
The candidates also include two women.
The announcement saw the party's sole assemblyperson for Permatang Pasir, Salleh Man dropped, and replaced by Fauzi himself.
"PAS candidates are screened strictly. Non-smokers have an advantage.
"We chose local candidates from Penang. You can't be from other states if you want to contest a state seat," he said.
The list of candidates are as follows:

1. Kepala Batas - Siti Mastura Mohamad, the state's women chief.
2. Tasek Gelugor - Rizal Hafiz Osman
3. Permatang Pauh - Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamuddeen
4. Nibong Tebal - Mohamad Hilmi Harun
5. Bayan Baru - Iszuree Ibrahim
6. Balik Pulau - Mohamad Imran Mohd Saad.

After the announcement, all 24 candidates went up on stage to read our their pledges as candidates.
About 800 supporters turned up to watch the party's candidacy announcement in Pongsu Seribu, Kepala Batas today, in what a PAS leader described as a "sea of people."
Accompanying local PAS leaders on the stage were their comrades from Gagasan Sejahtera, including leaders of the People's Alternative Party.
Earlier today, PAS announced in Johor that it would field candidates in almost every seat that DAP is contesting. - Mkini
