'The more they try to break us, the more we will unite'

GE14 | DAP chairperson Tan Kok Wai (above) described the deregistration action by the Registrar of Societies against Bersatu as a form of political persecution but said it would not deter Pakatan Harapan.
Tan, who is also Cheras MP, said with the pending dissolution of Parliament and state assemblies, they had anticipated such a move ahead of the 14th general election.
"The more BN wants to break us up and finish us off, the more we will unite as one. I am confident we will triumph over BN in this coming election.
"We are out to unseat BN," Tan said when commenting on today's announcement by the ROS that Bersatu had been slapped with a provisional dissolution order under Section 14(5) of the Societies Act, which comes into effect today.
Harapan secretary Saifuddin Abdullah said the coalition would still contest, despite the decision by the ROS before the hearing of the judicial review sought by Bersatu against the ROS.
"Bersatu will contest in 52 seats as decided and the Harapan parties will contest under one logo," Saifuddin said.
"This has been agreed on previously in the presidential council meeting."
Saifuddin said Bersatu is still part of Harapan and their candidates can contest in the elections.
He described the ROS action as part of a scheme employed by BN to derail Harapan as they are expected to give the ruling coalition a good fight.
Saifuddin, who is a former Umno supreme council member, is now with PKR.
"Two hours before the substantive hearing in court today, the ROS decided to provisionally dissolve Bersatu," he lamented.
He said Harapan presidential council meeting somewhat expected this decision and have made the necessary preparation to contest under one logo.
This will be announced by Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Pasir Gudang tomorrow, he added. - Mkini
