De facto PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim has been granted an audience with Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah tomorrow, The Star reports.
The meeting comes four years after the Selangor menteri besar crisis, which saw ties between the two severely strained.
Sultan Sharafuddin had blamed PKR for instigating the crisis, and later revoked the state’s ‘datuk seri’ title for Anwar, claiming the latter had questioned his integrity.
The crisis occurred after PKR triggered the Kajang by-election to pave the way for Anwar to replace then-menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
When the Court of Appeal declared him guilty of sodomy, the plan shifted to installing Anwar's wife, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as menteri besar.
However, Sultan Sharafuddin ultimately chose Mohamed Azmin Ali to replace Khalid, believing Wan Azizah would be a puppet.
Anwar's audience with the Selangor monarch follows meeting with other state royalty.
Anwar had met with Pahang regent Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah yesterday, and Kelantan regent Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra last week. -Mkini
